Martin Compston, best known for his role as DS Steve Arnott on Line Of Duty, has signed of for a guest starring role in the second season of ITV's royal drama Victoria. He will play Dr. Robert Traill, a key campaigner in the petition to gain awareness and support for those suffering from the potato famine in Ireland during the 1840s. 
Months after The Young Pope wrapped its run, Sky Atlantic is eyeing a return to the papacy. The satcaster is re-teaming with HBO for a limited series follow up to the Jude Law fronted series titled The New Pope. 
After protracted negotiations with international distributor MGM Television, Channel 4 has secured the exclusive UK rights to The Handmaid's Tale, TVWise has learned. The series will premiere on the main channel later this month 
BBC One is rapidly expanding Our Girl. The PSB has revealed that the third season of the military drama, which they ordered last October, has received a bumper order of twelve episodes - one more than the number of episodes the show has produced up to this point (including the feature length pilot). Owing to the larger order, the new season will have a slightly different format and will now comprise of three separate missions. 
EXCLUSIVE: The Portrait Of A Lady is inching closer to the small screen. I'm hearing that the TV adaptation of the Henry James novel, which Red Production Company and Number 9 Films announced they were developing close to a year ago, has now landed at the BBC. It's not immediately clear if it's eyed for a spot on BBC One or BBC Two. In addition to landing at the Beeb for further development, my sources tell me that Secret Diary Of A Call Girl scribe Rebecca Lenkiewicz has also come on-board to pen the script for this adaptation. 
BBC Two has released a trailer for their upcoming three-part drama Paula, which is set to premiere later this month. 
Here's a nice bit of cross-company casting. Dove Cameron, the star of Disney Channel's U.S. series Liv And Maddie and Descendants, has signed on for a recurring role on the upcoming second season of Disney Channel UK's original series The Lodge. She will play Jess, a sporty girl who lives locally to The Lodge who has been training for a big mountain biking championship. 
One of the hottest miniseries on the international market has secured a UK deal. The Kennedys sequel After Camelot, starring Matthew Perry (The Good Fight) and Katie Holmes (The Kennedys) has been snapped up on this side of the pond by Channel 5 after they agreed a deal with international distributor Muse Distribution International, TVWise has learned.
