Julie Hesmondhalgh, Sarah Gordy & David Gyasi Join BBC One’s ‘The A Word’ For Season 3

Julie Hesmondhalgh (Broadchurch, Coronation Street), Sarah Gordy (Call The Midwife, Holby City) and David Gyasi (Troy: Fall of a City, Man in an Orange Shirt) have joined the cast of BBC One's drama series The A Word for its upcoming third season. They join returning cast members Max Vento, Morven Christie, Lee Ingleby, Molly Wright, Pooky Quesnel, Leon Harrop and Christopher Eccleston. Filming on season three is now underway in the Lake District and Manchester 

BBC One Renews ‘Gentleman Jack’ For Second Season

BBC One has handed out an early second season renewal to their Suranne Jones fronted drama Gentleman Jack. The renewal comes after only a single episode of the series has aired in its Sunday night slot. Premium cable network HBO, who co-produce for the US market, are on-board for season two. Eight episodes have been ordered for the show's second season.

Flicker Productions Hires Charlotte Nicholls For Specialist Factual, Promotes Chloe Symonds To Head Of Development

Flicker Productions has hired former Darlow Smithson Productions' Head of Development Charlotte Nicholls to serve as their new Head of Specialist Factual. Additionally, the indie has promoted Chloe Symonds to Head of Development. Both will report to Joint Managing Directors Nick Underhill and Colleen Flynn.

Amazon Prime Video UK Releases Teaser Trailer & Key Art For ‘Star Trek: Picard’

Amazon Prime Video UK has released the teaser trailer and key art for Star Trek: Picard, which is set to premiere later this year. As TVWise previously reported, Amazon scored SVOD rights to the Sir Patrick Stewart fronted series in more than 200 territories in a deal with CBS Studios International earlier this month.

ITV2 & Hulu Order Zombie Comedy ‘Zomboat’

ITV2 and US streaming service Hulu have teamed up to co-commission Zomboat!, a six episode zombie comedy series from Adam Miller and Will Hartley. Leah Brotherhead, Hamza Jeetooa, Ryan McKen and Cara Theobold are attached to star. Rochenda Sandall guest stars.

AMC Picks Up UK Rights To ‘NOS4A2’, Sets August Premiere

AMC UK has picked up the UK rights to NOS4A2, the supernatural horror series starring Ashleigh Cummings and Zachary Quinto that is produced for the U.S. AMC network. The series will premiere on AMC UK on Tuesday August 13th at 9pm.
