EXCLUSIVE: Lifetime Acquires UK Rights To NBC’s Miniseries ‘The Slap’

EXCLUSIVE: Lifetime UK has closed a deal with NBCUniversal International Television Distribution to acquire the exclusive first run UK broadcast rights to NBC's "limited event series" The Slap, TVWise has learned exclusively. The eight episode series will premiere on Lifetime UK in 2016.

Discovery Channel UK has given the greenlight to The Krays: The Prison Years, a one-off documentary which will explore the "untold story" of the Kray twins after they were imprisoned in 1968. The Krays: The Prison Years will air on Discovery UK & Ireland this September.

AMC Global has firmed up a launch date for the UK channel. The AMC branded channel will be available exclusively on BT TV from August 28th, with a launch slate that includes the (previously announced) exclusive UK premiere of The Walking Dead spin-off Fear The Walking Dead and SundanceTV's southern drama Rectify.

James Cromwell Joins HBO/Sky/Canal+ Co-Pro ‘The Young Pope’

Sky, HBO and Canal+ are adding to the cast of their co-production The Young Pope. Award winning actor James Cromwell has been tapped for a starring role in the eight episode miniseries, which hails from creator Paul Sorrentino and is being toplined by Jude Law. Cromwell will play Cardinal Michael Spencer, the new Pope's mentor.

AMC Global To Roll Out ‘Humans’ Internationally

Humans is going global. AMC Global has secured exclusive first window television rights to the Channel 4/AMC co-production after striking a deal with international distributor Endemol Shine International, TVWise has learned. The show's eight episode first season will air across AMC Global's international footprint beginning in October, with the just ordered second season to follow in 2016.
