AMC Acquires UK Rights To ‘Manhattan’ & ‘Weeds’

Ahead of the channel's launch later this week, AMC UK is adding two exclusive acquisitions to their drama slate. AMC UK has acquired the exclusive first run UK broadcast rights to the first two seasons of WGN America atomic bomb period drama Manhattan, and all eight seasons of Showtime's dark-comedy series Weeds - the final two seasons of which have never aired on UK television following Sky Atlantic's decision to drop the series in 2013. Both Manhattan and Weeds were acquired in a deal with Lionsgate Television.

5* Acquires UK Rights To MTV’s ‘Eye Candy’, Eyes September Premiere

Eye CandyMTV's short-lived cyber stalker drama Eye Candy is coming to the UK. Channel 5 has acquired the exclusive first run UK broadcast rights to the ten episode series starring for their digi-net 5*, TVWise has learned. Eye Candy will premiere on 5* in September.

Katherine Heigl To Topline CBS Drama Pilot ‘Doubt’

State Of AffairsCBS has found the new lead for Doubt. State Of Affairs alum Katherine Heigl has signed on to star in the hour-long drama pilot, which is being re-worked and re-shot after it was produced last development cycle and came very close to scoring a series order. Heigl replaces KaDee Strickland, who was the lead in the first pilot.

Greg Rikaart To Recur On TNT’s ‘Major Crimes’

Greg RikaartGreg Rikaart (Bones, The Young And The Restless) has been tapped for a recurring role on the back-end of the fourth season of TNT's hit procedural Major Crimes. The actor will play Bobby G. Monroe, a confident young lawyer and anti-death penalty activist who is representing Slider, the defendant in the Alice Herrera case. Said case, which was investigated and "closed" in season three, became a focal point of the first leg of season four, with Rusty, now credentialed as a journalist, digging around to uncover Alice's real name and find her family.
