TruTV Renews ‘Those Who Can’t’ For Second Season, Orders ‘Shady Neighbors’ Pilot
TruTV is continuing with their push into scripted comedy. The Turner owned cable network has handed out a 13 episode second season renewal to Those Who Can't, their first original scripted comedy, some three months before it is set to premiere, TVWise has learned. Alongside renewing Those Who Can't, TruTV has inked a first-look deal with the series' showrunner Dean Lorey and picked up his comedy Shady Neighbors to pilot. 
ITV has given the green-light to Brief Encounters, a six episode drama series about the early days of the Ann Summers party plan business which hails from Fay Rusling & Oriane Messina and is based, at least in part, on Jacqueline Gold’s memoir Good Vibrations, TVWise has learned. 
Rambo is the latest feature film franchise making the jump to television. Fox has closed a deal with Entertainment One and Millennium Films to develop Rambo: New Blood, a TV series based on the Sylvester Stallone feature film series, TVWise has learned. 
Amazon Prime Instant Video has handed out a ten episode straight-to-series order to Trial, the new legal drama from The Practice and Harry's Law creator David E. Kelly which has Fargo alum Billy Bob Thornton attached to star, TVWise has learned. 
UKTV has hired former Sky exec Samantha Hammonds to serve in the newly created role of General Counsel, TVWise has learned. She will be a member of the executive leadership team and report directly to UKTV Chief Executive Officer Darren Childs. 
Remy Blumenfeld's indie Thinking Violets has teamed with French producer Herve Hubert to develop an adaptation of French entertainment formats Shopping Queens and Shopping Kings for the UK market, TVWise has learned.
