Rhod Gilbert has signed on as the new host for BBC Two's The Apprentice companion series You're Fired and You're Hired, TVWise has learned. He succeeds Jack Dee who fronted season ten, following the exit of long-time host Dara Ó Briain.
The X Factor and Britain's Got Talent are staying put on ITV. The commercial broadcaster has struck a new three-year deal with Syco Entertainment and FremantleMedia UK to renew both shows through to 2019. Under said deal, Britain's Got Talent will return in Spring 2017, with The X Factor following in the Autumn.
Netflix is calling time on Bloodline. The streaming service has announced that their drama series from the Damages team of Todd A. Kessler, Glenn Kessler and Daniel Zelman will end with its recently ordered third season. Additionally, TVWise has confirmed that, alongside the decision to cancel Bloodline, Netflix has also trimmed the order for season three to ten episodes, down from the thirteen that were ordered when the renewal was announced in July.
9/11 drama The Looming Tower, based on the book of the same name by Lawrence Wright, is close to securing a ten episode series order at streaming service Hulu. The series examines the chain of events that led to the September 11th terrorist attacks. Of particular focus is the rising threat of Bin Laden and the Al-Qaeda network throughout the 1990s and how dysfunction at the heart of government, the FBI and CIA prevented U.S. authorities from identifying and disrupting the attack.
