The BBC is getting back into business with Mike Bartlett. BBC One has given the green-light to Life, a new six episode drama series from the writer behind Doctor Foster and Trauma. Life explores four separate, deeply human and surprising stories to tell a larger story about what happens when we decide to step out of our own personal space and take a closer look into other people’s lives. The series unfolds in a large divided house in Manchester and will take a look into each of the flats and at the belief in the human capacity to connect, to care, to love and to change.
Hannibal star Hugh Dancy is joining Showtime's counter-terrorism drama Homeland in a recurring role for its upcoming eighth and final season. Production on the final season is now underway ahead of a premiere later this year. He will play John Zabel, a savvy Washington consultant who joins the White House as a new foreign-policy advisor to the President and a formidable opponent to Saul Berenson. Dancy joins a returning cast that includes Claire Danes as Carrie Mathison, Mandy Patinkin as Saul Berenson and Beau Bridges as President Warner.

ITV is adding to the cast of Marcella. Hugo Speer (The Musketeers, Britannia, The Full Monty) and Amanda Burton (Waterloo Road, Silent Witness) have joined the cast of the Anna Friel fronted drama for season three. Speer's promotion to series regular comes after he made a brief appearance in the season two finale.
