ITV's factual drama A Confession will premiere on Monday September 2nd at 9pm, it has been announced. Based on a true story, A Confession tells the story of how Detective Superintendent Steve Fulcher deliberately breached police procedure and protocol to catch a killer, a decision that ultimately cost him his career and reputation.

BBC Two Orders Sophie Willan Comedy Pilot ‘Alma’s Not Normal’

BBC Two has ordered Alma’s Not Normal - a half-hour comedy pilot written by and starring Sophie Willan, who won the BBC’s inaugural Caroline Aherne Bursary Award in 2018. Alma's Not Normal follows Boltonian wild-child, Alma Nuthall and her family of eccentric, unruly women. With no qualifications and a rebellious streak a mile wide, Alma decides to become an escort to support her dreams of becoming a star and leaving Bolton.

BBC Four Orders M.R. James Adaptation ‘Martin’s Close’, Peter Capaldi To Star

BBC Four has ordered Martin's Close, a one-off half-hour adaptation of M.R. James ghost story of the same name for their Christmas schedule. Peter Capaldi (Doctor Who, The Thick Of It) is attached to star. Martin's Close is set in 1684 and follows John Martin, who is on trial for his life. Facing him, the infamous ‘hanging Judge’, George Jeffreys. But this is not a cut and dried murder case. Because the innocent girl Martin is accused of killing has been seen after her death.
