Acquisitions Buzz: ‘Blindspot’, ‘Billions’, ‘Mr Robot’ & ‘Supergirl’ Near UK Deals

The Muppets was the first show from the upcoming 2015-2016 season to be acquired by a UK broadcaster, but what other shows will be coming to these shores by the end of next May? TVWise has pinned down four (when technically five) shows that are close to being snapped up by UK broadcasters. Said shows include NBC's Blindspot, starring Strike Back's Sullivan Stapleton; Showtime's Damian Lewis and Paul Giamatti fronted Billions; USA Network's hacker drama Mr. Robot; and CBS' Supergirl, which was identified across the board as a target for a number of UK broadcasters ahead of the LA Screenings.

ITV Looking To Acquire “Select Number” Of U.S. Dramas For ITV Encore

Following the deal to pick up the next two seasons of The Americans, ITV is looking to acquire a "select number" of U.S. dramas with "cable sensibilities" to premiere exclusively on their pay TV channel ITV Encore, TVWise can reveal.

FOX UK To Fast Track ‘American Dad’, Will Air Season 12 Close Behind U.S. Debut

FOX UK is to fast-track the Seth MacFarlane comedy American Dad for UK audiences, TVWise can reveal. Traditionally, new seasons have aired on FOX UK in Q1, approximately a year behind the U.S. broadcasts. But for the first time, the channel is planning to air the new season close behind US broadcaster TBS, in order to capitalise on the fact that they hold first window rights.
