Sky Atlantic Acquires UK Rights To Epix’s ‘Get Shorty’

EXCLUSIVE: Get Shorty is crossing the pond. I've learned that Sky Atlantic has secured the exclusive UK rights to Epix's dark comedy series starring Chris O’Dowd (Moone Boy) and Ray Romano (Everybody Loves Raymond) after striking a deal with international distributor MGM Worldwide Television Distribution. Representatives of Sky did not immediately respond to TVWise's request for comment.

SYFY UK has gone on an acquisitions spree. The NBCU owned and operated genre channel has agreed a bumper deal with Disney Media Distribution for UK rights to Hulu's Marvel series Runaways and the Freeform dramas Siren and Stitchers.

Slasher is staying put on its UK home. The Sky owned and operated FTA channel Pick TV has retained the UK rights to the Canadian horror series and plans to air the show's second season, subtitled Guilty Party, later this spring.

Movies 24 Picks Up UK Rights To ‘Date My Dad’

Movies 24 is adding a comedy to their line-up. The NBCU owned and operated channel has secured the UK rights to UP TV's comedy series Date My Dad, starring Barry Watson and Raquel Welch. The ten episode series - which is distributed internationally by Content Media and Palatin Media - will premiere on Sunday April 29th at 5pm with a double-bill.
