BBC Acquires ‘Riverdale’ Spin-Off ‘Katy Keene’
The BBC has acquired the UK rights to The CW's short-lived Riverdale spin-off Katy Keene after striking a deal with international distributor Warner Bros. International Television Distribution. The complete series will be available to stream on the BBC iPlayer on Saturday July 25th. The CW cancelled Katy Keene earlier this week after a single thirteen episode season. 
Sky has secured the UK rights to ABC's drama series For Life after striking a wide-ranging deal with international distributor Sony Pictures Television. The series will air on Sky Witness. No word just yet on a premiere date. This wide-ranging deal with Sony Pictures Television also includes extensions to Sky existing licensing agreements for S.W.A.T., The Blacklist and The Good Doctor. S.W.A.T. and The Blacklist air on Sky One, while The Good Doctor airs on Sky Witness.
BBC Two has acquired the rights to period drama Harlots after striking a deal with international distributor ITV Studios. The deal, which was brokered by the BBC's Head of Programme Acquisition Sue Deeks, covers all three seasons of the show. Seasons one and two will air back-to-back on BBC Two later this year, with the third and final season airing at a later date.
Two Freeform originals are crossing the pond. BBC Three has acquired the UK rights to The Fosters spin-off Good Trouble and supernatural drama Fort Salem (also known as Motherland: Fort Salem) after striking a deal with international distributor Disney Media Distribution.
Prodigal Son is coming to the UK. Sky One has acquired the UK rights to Fox's drama series starring Michael Sheen and Tom Payne after striking a deal with international distributor Warner Bros. International Television Distribution. The series is expected to premiere later this month.
UKTV's Alibi channel has sealed a bumper deal with ViacomCBS Global Distribution Group for UK rights to Tommy, Evil, and Why Women Kill. The deal was brokered by UKTV’s Head of Acquisitions Emma Sparks and ViacomCBS Global Distribution Group’s Matt Downer. All three series are expected to premiere on Alibi later this year. 
Amazon Prime Video has secured the UK rights to the DC Universe/The CW's Stargirl after striking a deal with international distributor Warner Bros. International Television Distribution. The series will premiere on the streaming service on Friday August 21st.
