Netflix UK Acquisitions Spree: Streaming Service Picks Up ‘Black Lightning’, ‘Outsiders’, ‘Underground’ & More
Netflix UK has gone on an acquisitions spree. The streaming service has confirmed reports that they have picked up The CW's newest drama series Black Lightning and have also announced a whole slew of new acquisitions. On the exclusive front, Netflix UK has also picked up the complete series runs of WGN America's drama series Outsiders, about an off-the-grid Appalachian clan; and Underground, which tells the true story of the underground railroad in the United States during the nineteenth century. 

Virgin Media has secured the UK rights to TNT's short-lived ten episode young William Shakespeare drama series Will after striking a deal with international distributor Turner International. The series will be made available to Virgin TV Full House customers via Virgin TV On-Demand later this month.
EXCLUSIVE: Superstore is finally crossing the pond. Multiple sources are telling me that ITV has agreed a deal with international distributor NBCUniversal International Distribution for the exclusive UK rights to the America Ferrera fronted comedy series, with plans to air it on ITV2 in 2018.
Sky has secured the first window rights to CBS' new drama series Seal Team and Instinct after striking a deal with international distributor CBS Studios International. SEAL Team will air on Sky One, while Instinct will air on Sky Living. Both series are expected to premiere on this side of the pond in 2018.
Netflix UK has secured the first window rights to Discovery's true crime anthology drama series Manhunt. The first season, subtitled Unabomber, will premiere on the streaming service on Tuesday December 12th, when all eight episodes will be available to stream.
History UK has acquired the UK rights to Knightfall, the period drama about the Knights Templar which is being produced for the U.S. History network. The series, which is distributed internationally by A+E Networks, is expected to premiere on this side of the pond in 2018.
