More4 Acquires ‘Berlin Station’ In Deal With Paramount

Spooks and Strike Back star Richard Armitage's newest espionage series is coming to the UK. Channel 4 has secured the free-to-air and non-linear rights to Epix's spy thriller Berlin Station for their digi-net More4 after striking a deal with Paramount Pictures Worldwide Television Licensing & Distribution. The series is set to premiere later this year.

Netflix UK Acquires TNT’s ‘Snowpiercer’ & Bravo’s ‘Dirty John’

Snowpiercer is coming to the UK. Netflix UK is set as the exclusive UK broadcaster for the series thanks to a larger deal between ITV Studios Global Entertainment and the streaming service, which will see Netflix serve as the global broadcaster outside of the U.S. and China. Elsewhere, in a deal with NBCUniversal International Distribution, Netflix UK has also boarded Bravo's new scripted series Dirty John, which is based on the articles and breakout true crime podcast of the same name from Los Angeles Times reporter Christopher Goffard.

Alibi Acquires UK Rights To ABC’s Kyra Sedgwick Series ‘Ten Days In The Valley

EXCLUSIVE: Kyra Sedgwick's TV comeback is crossing the pond. I've learned that UKTV's Alibi channel has secured the UK rights to Ten Days In The Valley, which marked the Emmy award winner's first regular TV role since The Closer, after striking a deal with international distributor Lionsgate Television. I'm told that the series will launch on Alibi next month, though a firm premiere date has not yet been set.

History UK Poaches First Window Rights To ‘Six’, Season 2 Premiere Set For August 3rd

History UK has poached first window rights to Seal Team Six drama series Six after striking a deal with sister company A+E Networks. Channel 5 previously held first window rights to the show and aired the first season earlier this year on their 5Spike channel. Representatives of Channel 5 did not immediately respond to TVWise's request for comment. The second season of Six will receive its UK premiere on History UK on Friday August 3rd at 9pm. Episodes will be repeated on Thursdays at midnight.

StarzPlay Inks Sony Deal For Audience’s Stephen King Adaptation ‘Mr. Mercedes’, Season 2 Premiere Set For August 23rd

StarzPlay is adding another first run acquisition to their slate. The channel - which is available exclusively in the UK on Amazon Prime via Amazon Channels - has picked up UK rights to Audience network's Stephen King adaptation Mr. Mercedes after striking a deal with international distributor Sony Pictures Television. The show's first season is now available to StarzPlay subscribers as of today. Season two will premiere on Thursday August 23rd, less than 24 hours behind the U.S. broadcast on Audience.

Universal TV Acquires Canadian Legal Drama ‘Burden Of Truth’

Universal TV is adding another Canadian drama series to their line-up. The NBCU owned and operated channel has secured exclusive first run UK rights to CBC's Erin-Brockovich style legal drama Burden Of Truth, starring Beauty & The Beast's Kristin Kreuk, after striking a deal with international distributor Entertainment One (eOne). The show's first season will premiere on Universal on Tuesday August 14th at 9pm with a double-bill.

Channel 4 Acquires Sony’s ‘Community’ For All 4 VOD Service

Channel 4 has acquired VOD rights to cult comedy series Community from international distributor Sony Pictures Television with plans to make all six seasons available on their VOD platform All 4 this summer. The "first few" seasons will be available on Monday July 23rd, with subsequent seasons being made available in August.

BBC Two Acquires FX’s John Paul Getty III Kidnap Drama ‘Trust’

BBC Two is adding a fifth(!) FX original series to their slate of acquisitions. The channel has secured the exclusive UK rights to the network's John Paul Getty III abduction drama series Trust after striking a deal with international distributor Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution. The series will premiere on BBC Two later this year.
