Netflix UK Acquires DC Universe’s Live-Action ‘Titans’ Series

Netflix UK has secured the exclusive UK rights to Titans, the upcoming live-action drama series that is being produced for nascent streaming service DC Universe in the United States. The pick-up is part of a wider deal between the streaming service and Warner Bros. International Television Distribution which makes Netflix the global broadcaster of Titans. In the wake of the deal, it's not clear if there are any global roll-out plans for DC Universe.

More4 Inks Multi-Year Extension For ‘The Good Fight’ In Deal With CBSSI

The Good Fight is staying put on More4. The Channel 4 owned and operated digi-net has picked up the UK rights to future seasons of the The Good Wife spin-off after agreeing a multi-year licensing deal extension with international distributor CBS Studios International. The show's third season is expected to launch on More4 in 2019.

E4 Acquires ‘Charmed’ Reboot & Harry Styles Comedy ‘Happy Together’

E4 is adding two U.S. scripted series to their line-up. The Channel 4 owned and operated digi-net has acquired the Charmed reboot and comedy Happy Together, which counts none other than Harry Styles amongst its executive producers, after striking a deal with international distributor CBS Studios International.

Virgin Media To Launch Dedicated 4K Channel; Picks Up UK Rights To ‘Shut Eye’, ‘Masters Of Sex’ & More

Virgin Media has announced plans to launch the UK's first dedicated 4K channel, Virgin TV Ultra HD. Ahead of the launch, Virgin Media has agreed a wide-ranging deal with Sony Pictures Television for a number of U.S. scripted series from their distribution catalogue. They have picked up first run rights to Shut Eye and The Art Of More, neither of which has previously aired in the UK; and linear/repeat rights to House Of CardsMasters Of Sex and StartUp. Notably, Masters Of Sex was dropped by Channel 4 in 2016 and its final two seasons never aired in the UK.

BBC Two Acquires Australian Police Comedy ‘No Activity’

No Activity is getting a UK broadcast. BBC Two has secured the UK rights to the original Australian police comedy series starring Patrick Brammall and Darren Gilshenan, TVWise has confirmed. The show's first season will premiere on Sunday September 9th at 10:30pm with a double-bill.

StarzPlay Acquires UK Rights To J.K. Simmons Thriller ‘Counterpart’

J.K. Simmons' (The Closer) newest TV drama is coming to the UK. StarzPlay – which is available exclusively in the UK on Amazon Prime via Amazon Channels – has acquired Counterpart from international distributor Sony Pictures Television. The show's first season will be available to stream for StarzPlay subscribers from Friday September 28th. This marks the second major deal between Sony and StarzPlay since the service launch on Amazon Prime Video UK earlier this year. Back in July, the two companies also agreed a deal for AT&T's Audience network's Stephen King adaptation Mr. Mercedes.
