Syfy UK Acquires CBS' 'Blood & Treasure', Sets December Premiere – TVWise

Syfy UK has acquired the UK rights to CBS’ latest summer drama Blood & Treasure after striking a deal with international distributor CBS Studios International. The series, which has already been renewed for a second season, will receive its UK premiere on Syfy UK on Thursday December 19th at 9pm.
Blood & Treasure is described as “a globe-trotting action-adventure drama” about a brilliant antiquities expert and a cunning art thief who team up to catch a ruthless terrorist who funds his attacks through stolen treasure. Danny McNamara is a former FBI agent specializing in stolen arts and antiquities. Lexi Vaziri is a resourceful art thief who is haunted by the tragic loss of her father, which she blames on Danny.
As they crisscross the world hunting their target, Danny and Lexi unexpectedly find themselves at the center of a 2,000-year-old battle for the cradle of civilization. The drama series is produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Propagate Content and stars Matt Barr, Sofia Pernas, Michael James Shaw, Katia Winter, James Callis, Oded Fehr, Alicia Coppola and Mark Gagliardi. The executive producers are Matthew Federman, Stephen Scaia, Taylor Elmore, Ben Silverman, Marc Webb, Mark Vlasic and Howard T. Owens.
Blood & Treasure has the distinction of the being the first broadcast network show that Syfy UK has acquired since The Exorcist back in 2016. At Syfy UK, it joins a limited slate of first run U.S. acquisitions that also includes Freeform’s Siren; History’s Project Blue Book; and Hulu’s Future Man and Marvel’s Runaways. They are also the UK broadcaster for Electric Entertainment’s fantasy series The Outpost. Notably, they do not currently hold the first run rights to any Syfy original series.
