Sky Atlantic has released the teaser trailer for The New Pope, their upcoming The Young Pope follow-up starring Jude Law and John Malkovich that is set to premiere in January 2020.
The New Pope is expected to follow the events surrounding a new papacy, though the producers have yet to reveal specific plot details. The nine episode series is being produced by Wildside, Haut et Court TV and Mediapro. Paolo Sorrentino is directing. Fremantle is handling global sales. HBO and Canal+ are co-producing.
In addition to Jude Law and John Malkovich, the cast of The New Pope also includes Silvio Orlando, Javier Cámara, Cécile de France, Ludivine Sagnier, Maurizio Lombardi – all of whom, like Jude Law, are reprising their roles from The Young Pope. New cast additions to the limited series are Henry Goodman, Ulrich Thomsen, Mark Ivanir and Massimo Ghini. Sharon Stone and Marilyn Manson guest star.
