Add Law & Order: Special Victims Unit to the list of shows making the jump from Universal TV to Sky Witness. America’s longest running prime-time drama series is moving to the Sky channel with the UK premiere of its record breaking twenty-first season set for Tuesday December 10th at 10pm.
Ever since the Comcast deal went through, with Sky taking operational control of NBCU’s UK channels (Universal TV, Syfy UK etc), there has been persistent rumours that Universal’s key acquisitions would be relocating to Sky Witness. That trend started when Chicago Med made the jump earlier this year, and was followed soon after by The Inbetween.
Created by Dick Wolf, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit revolves around the activities of the Manhattan Special Victims Unit of the NYPD, which investigates sexually based offences. The drama series is produced by Universal Television and stars Mariska Hargitay, Ice T, Peter Scanavino, Kelli Giddish and Jamie Gray Hyder.
In the opening episode of season twenty-one, titled I’m Going To Make You A Star, when an actress accuses a high-powered media mogul of attempted rape, Benson finds herself in a high-stakes game of cat and mouse. Changes in the squad room put Carisi between a rock and a hard place. Ian McShane, Peter Gallagher, Zuleikha Robinson and Jamie Gray Hyder guest star.
