Channel 4 Acquires ‘Freaks And Geeks’ & ‘Anger Management’ For All 4

Channel 4 is adding two U.S. box-sets to All 4. The broadcaster has acquired both Freaks And Geeks and FX’s Charlie Sheen fronted comedy series Anger Management for their VOD service. The complete series of Freaks And Geeks launches on All 4 tomorrow (Friday November 15th), while Anger Management will be available next Friday (November 22nd).

Freaks And Geeks is the universal experience of teen hood as lived by the freaks and geeks in a Michigan high school, circa 1980. It focusses on the lives of siblings Lindsay and Sam Weir, the show looks at the everyday fears, humiliations and triumphs of adolescent’s past, present and futures. The comedy series, which lasted a single season, stars Linda Cardellini, John Francis Daley, Seth Rogen, James Franco and Busy Phillips.

Anger Management follows the daily life of Charlie Goodson, a non-traditional therapist specialising in anger management. He has a successful private practice, holding sessions with his group of primary patient regulars each week, as well as performing pro bono counseling for an inmate group at a state prison. Charlie thrives on the chaos in his life while still battling his own anger issues. His life is complicated by his relationships with his own therapist/best friend, an ex-wife whose positive outlook but poor choice in men frustrates Charlie, and their 13-year-old daughter who has OCD.

The comedy series, which is based on the 2003 feature film of the same name, is produced by Lionsgate Television, Revolution Studios, Evolution Entertainment, Mohawk Productions, Inc. and Estevez Sheen Productions and stars Charlie Sheen, Shawnee Smith, Selma Blair, Daniela Bobadilla, Noureen DeWulf, Michael Arden, Derek Richardson, Barry Corbin and Martin Sheen.

Freaks And Geeks and Anger Management are the latest U.S. scripted box-set buys for All 4. Channel 4’s VOD service has also recently struck deals for box-sets of such shows as The GoldbergsSchooledThe ShieldLight As A Feather, 30 RockCommunity, ER, and a slew of Adult Swim originals.
