BBC One has released the teaser trailer for their Charles Dickens adaptation A Christmas Carol, which is set to be a key-part of the channel’s Christmas schedule.

A Christmas Carol is described as a unique and original take on the Charles Dickens’ iconic ghost story penned by Steven Knight and a haunting, hallucinatory, spine-tingling immersion into Scrooge’s dark night of the soul. “This production of A Christmas Carol will respectfully present what we believe to be a timely interpretation of a timeless story”, Knight said in a statement.

The three-parter is being produced by FX Productions, Scott Free and Hardy Son & Baker and stars Guy Pearce (Mary Queen Of Scots), Andy Serkis (Black Panther), Stephen Graham (This is England), Charlotte Riley (Peaky Blinders), Joe Alwyn (The Favourite), Vinette Robinson (Doctor Who), Rutger Hauer, Kayvan Novak (What We Do In The Shadows) and Lenny Rush (Old Boys). The executive producers are Steven Knight, Tom Hardy, Ridley Scott, Dean Baker, David W. Zucker, Kate Crowe and Mona Qureshi. Julian Stevens is the producer, while Nick Murphy is the director.
