The second season of The Sinner will premiere on BBC Four on Saturday November 23rd at 9pm with a double-bill, it has been announced.
The Sinner is an anthology series based on the novel by Petra Hammesfahr. The first season told the story a young mother who, overcome by an inexplicable fit of rage, commits a startling and very public act of violence – and to her horror has no idea why. Detective Harry Ambrose finds himself obsessed with uncovering the woman’s buried motive. The drama series is produced by Universal Cable Productions and stars Bill Pullman, Elisha Henig and Carrie Coon.
In the show’s second season, Detective Harry Ambrose is lured back to his hometown in rural New York to assess an unsettling and heart wrenching crime — parents murdered by their 11-year-old son, with no apparent motive. As Ambrose realizes there’s nothing ordinary about the boy or where he came from, the investigation pulls him into the hidden darkness of his hometown. He’s pitted against those who’ll stop at nothing to protect its secrets — including the mysterious Vera, a complicated, enigmatic piece to this haunting puzzle. The second season has previously aired in the UK on Netflix. A third season has already been commissioned.
