StarzPlay Acquires UK Rights To Hulu’s ‘Four Weddings And A Funeral’, Sets December Premiere

Four Weddings And A Funeral is crossing the pond. StarzPlay has secured the UK rights to Hulu’s limited series, based on the hit 199os film, after striking a deal with MGM Worldwide Television Distribution. It will premiere on StarzPlay on Thursday December 12th, when the complete series will be available to stream.

Four Weddings And A Funeral tells the story of Maya, the young communications director for a New York senatorial campaign, who, after receiving a wedding invitation from her college schoolmate now living in London, leaves her professional and personal life behind. Traveling to England she reconnects with her old friends and ends up in the midst of their personal crises.

The limited series is produced by MGM Television and Universal Television and stars Natalie Emmanuel, Nikesh Patel, John Reynolds, Rebecca Rittenhouse, Brandon Mychal Smith, Zoe Boyle, Sophia La Porta, Guz Khan, Andie MacDowell and Dermot Mulroney. The executive producers are Mindy Kaling, Tracey Wigfield, Richard Curtis, Jonathan Prince, Matt Warburton, Howard Klein, Charlie Grandy, Tristram Shapeero and Charles McDougall.

At StarzPlay, Four Weddings And A Funeral joins a slate of exclusive first run acquisitions that includes Epix’s Batman prequel series Pennyworth; Starz originals The Spanish Princess, Dangerous Liaisons, VidaSweetbitter; Hulu originals Castle RockHarlots and The Act; and AT&T’s Audience Network’s Stephen King adaptation Mr. Mercedes.
