E4 has closed a deal with CBS Studios International to acquire the exclusive UK rights to CBS’ Matt LeBlanc comedy Man With A Plan. Additionally, the deal also gives the channel the linear rights to Star Trek: Discovery. Both series will premiere on E4 in 2020.
Man With A Plan tells the story of Adam, a contractor who starts spending more time with his kids when his wife goes back to work and discovers the truth every parent eventually realizes: their little angels are maniacs. The comedy series, which has been renewed through season four, is produced by CBS Television Studios and stars Matt LeBlanc, Liza Snyder, Grace Kaufman, Hala Finley, Matthew McCann, Matt Cook, Kevin Nealon, Stacy Keach and Kali Rocha.
Star Trek: Discovery follows the voyages of Starfleet on their missions to discover new worlds and new lifeforms, and one Starfleet officer who must learn that to truly understand all things alien, you must first understand yourself. The lead character is not a Captain as with previous shows but a Lieutenant Commander.
The drama series, which is set ten years before the events of Star Trek: The Original Series, is produced by CBS Television Studios and stars Sonequa Martin-Green, Doug Jones, Anthony Rapp, Michelle Yeoh, Shazad Latif, Chris Obi, Mary Chieffo, Terry Serpico, Jason Isaacs, Mary Wiseman, Maulik Pancholy and Sam Vartholomeos. Netflix UK retains first window rights to the show and will air season three in 2020.
“We’re excited to bring the linear television rights for Star Trek: Discovery to the international market and launch in the UK with our valued friends at Channel 4″, said Barry Chamberlain, President of Sales, CBS Studios International. “This agreement features the best of both worlds — premium subscription content from a global franchise and a very popular network comedy from America’s Most-Watched Network. Channel 4 is already a licensee for several of our top-rated franchises, including The Good Fight and Charmed, and we are confident they will have continued success with Star Trek: Discovery and Man With A Plan.”
