Joanna Scanlan (No Offence, The Thick Of It) and Hugh Dennis (Fleabag, Outnumbered) are set to guest star opposite series leads Jason Watkins (The Crown) and Tala Gouveia (Cold Feet) in ITV’s Invisible.
Invisible is set in Bath and tells the story of various crimes investigated by an unlikely British duo – the ambitious Detective Chief Inspector McDonald (Gouveia) and the shy, modest Detective Sergeant Dodds (Watkins) – who are thrown together to form a rumbustious yet effective partnership. The first season consists of two feature-length episodes.
Joanna Scanlan and Hugh Dennis will appear in the show’s second feature-length episode. Joanna Scanlan has been cast as Kelly Mulcreevy, the Director of private clinic The Mara Retreat; while Hugh Dennis will play the facility’s CEO. Other guest stars lined up for the episode include Michele Dotrice (A Very English Scandal), Caroline Catz (Doc Martin), Freddie Fox (Watership Down), Kiran Sonia Sawar (Black Mirror), Suzanne Packer (The ABC Murders) and Charlotte Ritchie (Call The Midwife).
In the second episode The Mara Retreat, which treats patients with a range of disorders, comes under scrutiny when one of the patients is unexpectedly found dead in her room. Determined to get to the bottom of the crime, the clinic’s patients are all individually investigated by DCI McDonald and DS Dodds, including sex addict Alison (Caroline Catz), gambling addict Mary (Michele Dotrice), drug addict Miles (Freddie Fox) and Maheeda (Kiran Sonia Sawar) who suffers from social anxiety.
Invisible was created by DCI Banks scribe Robert Murphy and is set up at the ITV Studios owned production company Mammoth Screen. ITV Drama Commissioner Huw Kennair Jones is overseeing production for the broadcaster. Amy Thurgood is the series producer. Richard Senior directed the first episode, while Laura Scrivano is directing the second episode. The executive producers are Robert Murphy, Preethi Mavahalli and Damien Timmer. Filming on the series is underway on location in the west country. ITVSGE will handle global sales.
