Channel 4 Picks Up UK Rights To ‘Alex’ Season 2 For Walter Presents

Channel 4 has picked up the UK rights to the second season of Nordic thriller Alex for their foreign language VOD service Walter Presents after striking a deal with international distributor APC Studios. Walter Presents launched the first season in the UK last year.

In addition to the UK deal, APC has also licensed the second season to Amazon Prime Video in France, Walter Presents in Australia and New Zealand, MHZ in the United States, ProSiebenSat.1 Media SE in Germany, UPC in Switzerland, Ale Kino+ in Poland, Elisa/My Nordic TV in China, STOD in Iceland and Green Narae Media in South Korea.

Alex follows the hardened – and corrupt – cop Alex Leko, who finally decides to leave the underworld behind. However, his darkest connections keep pulling him back, and soon he finds himself and his family in great danger. The drama series is produced by SF Studios and Nevision for Swedish broadcaster Viaplay and stars SF Studios and stars Dragomir Mrsic. At the end of season one, Alex’s world totally fell apart. He saved his son from the mafia but paid a heavy price. His wife left him and he got sent to jail for killing a police officer. A third season is currently in development.

In season two, surviving as an ex-cop in a high-security is no easy task. Alex’s only chance might very well be to join the gangs he fought in his other life. But when his ex-partner Frida comes to him and offers to reduce his sentence in exchange for becoming an undercover informant, hope reignites in Alex. His family needs him, especially his son Simon, who is taking a wrong path in life. Maybe he still has a shot at redemption? Alex’s resolve and character is put to the test once again as he gets caught into a complex game, where everyone, including the police, tries to play him and danger is always lurking.
