With No Sign Of Channel 5 Broadcast, NBCU Preps 'Will & Grace' Season 10 UK DVD Release – TVWise

Here’s the good news for Will & Grace fans – the show’s tenth season (aka the second season of the revival) is coming to the UK.
As TVWise readers are well aware, shortly after the revival hit the market Channel 5 announced that they had secured the rights in a deal with NBCUniversal International Distribution and then aired season nine from early 2018.
But while season ten hit screens state-side in October 2018 there was no sign of a UK broadcast on Channel 5. TVWise reached out to Channel 5 earlier this year to get an update on their broadcast plans to no avail. We have once again reached out to Channel 5 and parent Viacom for clarification.
While there is no firm news from Channel 5, NBCUniversal is now looking at going direct-to-consumer. Their home entertainment division is preparing to release the tenth season on DVD this summer and they recently submitted the set to BBFC for classification. Plans could of course move, but for now the DVD set is scheduled for release on August 5th.
This is not an entirely unique situation. When Channel 5 failed to broadcast the third season of Gotham, Warner Bros. put the third season on Netflix and on various home entertainment formats, before E4 swooped for first run rights beginning with season four. Breaking Bad was another show that premiered new seasons on DVD before landing at a new broadcaster (Netflix UK).
