Thalissa Teixeira, Araine Labed & Gary Carr To Star In BBC Two’s ‘Trigonometry’

Thalissa Teixeira (The Musketeers, Press), Ariane Labed (The Lobster, Attenberg) and Gary Carr (The Deuce, The Good Fight) have been set as the leads in Trigonometry, BBC Two’s eight episode drama series from Duncan Macmillan and Effie Woods.

“Duncan and Effie’s unique and beautiful scripts demanded three extraordinary, honest and fearless actors to play their leads”, said the BBC’s Controller of Drama Piers Wenger. “And I am delighted that in Gary, Thalissa and Ariane, they have met their sweethearts.”

Trigonometry is a love story about three people who are made for each other. In crowded and expensive London, cash strapped couple Gemma (Teixeira) and Kieran (Carr) open their small apartment to a third person. Somehow, their new addition, Ray (Labed), makes the flat seem bigger, not smaller. Gradually, many things become easier, nicer and better with an extra pair of hands. Gemma and Kieran have everything to lose. As this unusual relationship becomes unavoidable, the trio approach it with the prudence of people in their 30s.

Is it possible to love in a different way? But even when common sense, friends and family are telling them that this complicated relationship is doomed, Gemma, Kieran and Ray simply can’t be apart. Rounding out the cast is Rebecca Humphries (Big Bad World, Morgana Robinson’s The Agency), Isabella Laughland (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Lewis), Ambreen Razia (Murdered By My Father) and Anne Consigny (Elle).

The eight episode drama series, which was originally commissioned at BBC Two back in 2017, was created by Duncan Macmillan and Effie Woods and is being produced by House Productions. Imogen Cooper is the series producer, while Athina Tsangari and Stella Corradi are attached to direct. The executive producers are Duncan Macmillan, Effie Woods, Tessa Ross, Juliette Howell and Tommy Bulfin. BBC Studios will handle global sales.

“We are thrilled that Arianne, Gary and Thalissa have brought the characters in Duncan and Effie’s exquisite scripts to life in such a beautiful way”, said House Productions joint CEO’s Tessa Ross and Juliette Howell. “Working with two hugely talented directors, Athina Tsangari and Stella Corradi, they have given us something very special, creating a thrilling and palpable on screen chemistry which makes this feel truly exceptional.”
