ITV has handed out a series order to Tenacity, a six episode submarine drama from Jane Tranter & Julie Gardner’s Bad Wolf and Designated Survivor studio eOne.
Tenacity opens with the discovery of a dead submariner aboard the British nuclear submarine, Tenacity. Disgraced military detective Danielle ‘Dan’ Lewis is sent to investigate the accident. But when the case turns to murder it puts her in conflict with Tenacity’s crew, her Navy superiors, and into the crosshairs of an assassin who has infiltrated her nuclear base with an agenda that will not only destroy national security but kill Dan and everyone she loves.
“Peter has written an incredible script with a brilliant and complex heroine leading an investigation that genuinely surprises”, said ITV’s Head of Drama Poly Hill, who commissioned the series. “I am so delighted to be working with Bad Wolf and Entertainment One on this incredible drama, that promises to have an audience hooked from the start. We are excited to have this on ITV and think it will be addictive viewing.”
The drama series, which is inspired by J.S. Law’s novel of the same name, was created and written by Peter A. Dowling (Flightplan, Reasonable Doubt) and is being produced by Bad Wolf and Entertainment One (eOne). Bad Wolf co-founders Jane Tranter and Julie Gardner will serve as executive producers alongside eOne’s Head of Scripted Polly Williams. Filming is expected to get underway in 2020. ITV said that casting would be confirmed close to the start of production.
