Filming has started on the ninth season of BBC One’s Caribbean-set crime drama Death In Paradise. Production is taking place on the French-Caribbean island of Guadeloupe.
As TVWise previously reported, Aude Legastelois, who plays Detective Sergeant Madeleine Dumas, has been upped to series regular for season nine. She joins returning cast members Ardal O’Hanlon, Tobi Bakare, Shyko Amos, Don Warrington and Elizabeth Bourgine.
“We’re thrilled to be back in Guadeloupe with our fantastic cast and crew getting to work on more ingenious murder mysteries in the Caribbean sun”, said executive producer Tim Key. “We can’t wait for the audience to see what we’ve got in store for series nine – there are some big surprises coming.”
Death In Paradise was created by Robert Thorogood and follows DI Jack Mooney and his local police team as they investigate crimes on the tropical island of Saint Marie. The series is produced by Red Planet Pictures, with Tim Key and Tommy Bulfin serving as executive producers. The BBC has renewed the series through season ten. It is produced with the support of the region of Guadeloupe. Season nine will see the Honoré Police team get to know their new DS, Madeleine, while a surprise kiss catches Jack off guard.
