Private Eyes has secured a second UK home. Channel 5’s digi-net 5USA has acquired the Canadian drama series fronted by Jason Priestley (Beverly Hills 90210). eOne (Entertainment One) handles global sales. The show’s first season will premiere on 5USA next month.
Private Eyes is set in Toronto and follows ex-pro hockey player Matt Shade (Priestley) who irrevocably changes his life when he decides to team up with fierce P.I. Angie Everett, took over her father’s agency after his death, to form an unlikely investigative powerhouse. Cindy Sampson (Supernatural) stars opposite Priestley as Angie Everett.
The drama series was created by Tim Kilby & Shelley Eriksen and is produced by eOne in association with Corus Entertainment. The executive producers are John Morayniss, Rachel Fulford, Tecca Crosby, Shawn Piller, Lloyd Segan, Shelley Eriksen, Alan McCullough, Tassie Cameron, Kelly Makin and Jason Priestley. Canadian broadcaster Global has renewed the series through to its third season.
eOne previously licensed first run UK rights to the series to NBCU’s flagship channel Universal TV. They retain said rights and plan to air the show’s third season later this year. This agreement further extends the relationship between eOne and 5USA parent Channel 5, who have previously pacted together for such shows as Rookie Blue, Scott & Bailey remake The Detail and Designated Survivor.
