UKTV’s Dave Channel Cancels ‘Zapped’ After Three Seasons

UKTV’s Dave channel has cancelled their original comedy series Zapped after three seasons, TVWise has confirmed. The show’s third season wrapped its run on the channel late last year.

Zapped follows Brian Weaver, an online data marketing assistant, who finds himself abruptly transported to a parallel world. The comedy series is produced by Black Dog Television and Baby Cow Productions and stars James Buckley, Sharon Rooney, Paul Kaye, Ken Collard and Louis Emerick.

Created by by Dan Gaster, Will Ing and Paul Powel, Zapped was originally commissioned back in 2016 and was a key part of Dave’s push into original scripted comedy following their early successes with the revival of Red Dwarf and the Daniel Rigby series Undercover. Since then, Dave has grown a healthly slate that includes Dan Sefton’s Porters and the upcoming Sliced, starring Samson Kayo (Timewasters) and Theo Barklem-Biggs (Kingsman: The Secret Service).

“We have made three brilliant series of Zapped and have loved every minute of Brian’s adventures in Munty, it’s been an absolute joy working with James Buckley, Sharon Rooney, Paul Kaye, Ken Collard and Louis Emerick as well as the brilliant team at Baby Cow Productions and Black Dog Television”, a representative of UKTV said in a statement. “Zapped has been integral to helping Dave grow its UKTV Original series but all good things must come to an end and we have no current plans for a fourth series.”
