Timothy Simons (Veep) and Ron Cephas Jones (This Is Us) have joined the cast of Looking For Alaska, Hulu’s eight episode adaptation of John Green’s 2005 debut novel of the same name.
Looking For Alaska follows teenager Miles “Pudge” Halter as he enrolls in boarding school to try to gain a deeper perspective on life. He falls in love with a girl, Alaska Young, and after her unexpected death, he and his close friends attempt to uncover the truth behind her death and make sense of it.
Timothy Simons has been cast as The Eagle, who is devoted to the code of Culver Creek Academy. Stern and humourless, The Eagle runs the school and enjoys the power. He (who watches everything) warns Miles against following in his father’s prankster footsteps. Ron Cephas Jones plays Dr. Hyde, the History of Religion teacher at Culver Creek Academy, who is impossibly old, with only one lung – but once he’s in full command, Dr. Hyde is an enthralling presence who finds his own jokes amusing and who has been very smart for a very long time indeed.
The eight episode adaptation, which was developed for television by Josh Schwartz, is produced by Paramount Television and Fake Empire and stars Kristine Froseth, Charlie Plummer, Denny Love, Jay Lee, Landry Bender, Sofia Vassilieva, Uriah Shelton, and Jordan Connor. Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage will serve as executive producers alongside Jessica Tuchinsky, Mark Waters, Green and Marty Bowen and Isaac Klausner. Fake Empire exec Lis Rowinski will co-executive produce. Sarah Adina Smith ill direct the pilot. Production on the series is presently underway.
