Shannen Doherty Joins Fox’s ‘Beverly Hills, 90210’ Event Series ‘BH90210’

Shannen Doherty (Charmed, Heathers) has signed on to star in Fox’s upcoming Beverly Hills, 90210 event series BH90210 (formerly known as 90210).

Doherty played Brenda Walsh on the first four seasons of Beverly Hills, 90210. She joins fellow returning original cast members Jason Priestley, Jennie Garth, Ian Ziering, Gabrielle Carteris, Brian Austin Green and Tori Spelling.

BH90210 is not a traditional revival in the vein of Will & Grace or The X-Files. Instead of it being a continuation of Beverly Hills, 90210 itself, it’s a serialised drama that sees the original cast playing heightened versions of themselves and is inspired by their real lives and relationships with each other.

Having gone their separate ways since the original series ended 19 years ago, Shannen, Jason, Jennie, Ian, Gabrielle, Brian and Tori reunite when one of them suggests it’s time to get a “Beverly Hills, 90210” reboot up and running. But getting it going may make for an even more delicious soap than the reboot itself. What will happen when first loves, old romances, friends and frenemies come back together, as this iconic cast – whom the whole world watched grow up together – attempts to continue from where they left off?

The event series, which has an order for six episodes, was conceived by Chris Alberghini, Mike Chessler, Tori Spelling and Jennie Garth and scored a series order at Fox back in February for a slot on the network’s summer schedule. CBS Television Studios and Fox Entertainment are producing, with Chris Alberghini, Mike Chessler, Patrick Sean Smith, Gabrielle Carteris, Jennie Garth, Brian Austin Green, Jason Priestley, Tori Spelling, Ian Ziering and Shannen Doherty serving as executive producers.
