Mickey Malkovich is making a comeback. Noel Fisher, who exited Shameless as a regular after the fifth season, has signed on to return to the Showtime series for its upcoming tenth season.
The news of Fisher’s return was announced on the show’s Twitter feed. Fisher’s character was the boyfriend of Ian Gallagher (Cameron Monaghan) and after his exit he made a handful of guest appearances, with fans clamouring for a full time return.
His last appearance on the show was during the ninth season of the show, in what was supposed to be Monaghan’s final episode, when he was revealed to be Ian’s cellmate in prison. Since then, however, its has been revealed that Cameron Monaghan would be returning for season ten, perhaps making Fisher’s return as Mickey almost inevitable.
Technically, More4 still holds UK rights to Shameless but they have not put the series on the schedule since season five in 2016. Netflix UK continues to release new seasons every autumn, but, due to contractual restrictions, are a couple of seasons behind. The streaming service has thus far made the first seven seasons available, with season eight set to follow later this year.
