MTV International has renewed hit reality gameshow True Love Or True Lies for a second season. Twelve episodes have been ordered for the show’s second season, which will air on MTV’s network of international channels in more than 180 countries later this year.
True Love Or True Lies? follows a group of couples competing to be crowned the ‘perfect couple’. Through a series of relationship tests, each episode culminates in a couple being voted out of the show. However, not all couples are real and the contestants must figure out who the real lovers and liars are amongst them in order to win a big cash prize. The series is produced by Lime Pictures. The executive producer is Andrew Jackman.
“We can’t wait to bring this highly successful format back as it challenges perceptions and reflects what modern day relationships really look like”, said Craig Orr, Vice-President of Commissioning and Development for MTV International. “We know fans of the show enjoy joining in with all the ups and downs of the series and can guarantee them plenty more twists and thrills in the next!.”
The second season order comes after the debut series drove record-breaking ratings on MTV UK in its premiere week, resulting in the channel earning its highest ever weekly share amongst 16-34s (+28% versus MTV’s second highest week) and its highest ever week by +19% (vs. 2017). True Love Or True Lies? was recommissioned by MTV International’s Vice-President of Commissioning and Development Craig Orr and Viacom International Media Networks Executive Vice-President for Youth and Music Kerry Taylor.
