Hawkeye is coming to television. Disney’s soon-to-launch streaming service Disney+ is developing a Marvel limited series revolving around the Hawkeye character. Jeremy Renner is attached to reprise the role he has played in three MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) feature films.
The as-yet untitled series will follow archery master Clint Barton, a.k.a. Hawkeye, as he passes the torch to Kate Bishop. In the comics, Bishop is a member of the Young Avengers who takes up the mantle of Hawkeye after Clint Barton. The news of the limited series was first reported by Variety.
Disney+ is deep in development on several Marvel limited series featuring character from the MCU. Arguably the highest profile one is Loki, which has a formal greenlight at the streaming service. It will see Tom Hiddleston reprising his role as Thor’s brother and the Asgardian god of mischief. The streaming service is also working on limited series featuring Scarlet Witch, Falcon and the Winter Soldier. These limited series are expected to run 6-8 episodes in length. Disney+ is expected to launch later this year. It is not immediately clear if the service, or any of their original series, will be available in the UK at the time of launch.
