Amazon Prime Video UK Sets Premiere Date For ‘The Boys’

Amazon Prime Video UK’s subversive superhero series The Boys will premiere on Friday July 26th, it has been announced.

The Boys explores what happens when superheroes – who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians and as revered as Gods – abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. It’s the powerless against the super powerful as The Boys embark on a heroic quest to expose the truth about The Seven, and Vought – the multi-billion dollar conglomerate that manages these superheroes and covers up all of their dirty secrets.

The eight episode drama series, which is based on the comic by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, is co-produced by Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television Studios with Point Grey Pictures, Kripke Enterprises and Original Film and stars Jack Quaid, Karl Urban, Laz Alonso, Tomer Capon, Karen Fukuhara, Simon Pegg, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Chace Crawford, Nathan Mitchell and Elisabeth Shue. The series was developed for television by Supernatural‘s Erik Kripke, who also serves as showrunner. Point Grey Pictures’ Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Original Film’s Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty and Ori Marmur, as well as Ken Levin and Jason Netter also serve as executive producers.
