It’s the end of the road for Supernatural. The long-running drama series will wrap its run with it’s upcoming fifteenth season, which is set to premiere later this year.

The announcement that season fifteen was to be the show’s last was made by series stars Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins on social media on Friday.

Created by Erick Kripke, Supernatural follows the Winchester brothers as they hunt down the various creatures of the supernatural which inhabit the backroads of America. The drama series is produced by Warner Bros. Television and stars Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, Misha Collins, Mark Pellegrino and Alexander Calvert.

Supernatural was the one holdover from The WB – one of The CW’s two fore-bearer networks. Across its run, it has consistently ranked amongst the network’s highest rated shows. Notably, with the decision to end the show, The CW will be saying goodbye to two big shows during the 2019-2020 broadcast season: Supernatural and Arrow. While Arrow is ending with an shortened ten episode season, Supernatural season 15 is expected run twnety episodes – the same order as the current season.

“Firstly, we would like to thank all the people who have been involved with the show both in front of and behind the camera. For us it has been an experience of a lifetime. The support we have had from both Warner Bros Television and The CW has been incredible”. said executive producers Robert Singer and Andrew Dabb. “We’d like to give special thanks to Jensen, Jared and Misha for making this journey so special. It is now most important to us to give these characters that we love the send off they deserve.”
