Fresh off of scoring a record breaking renewal, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit is losing a cast member. Philip Winchester (Strike Back, The Player), who plays Peter Stone, is exiting the long running drama ahead of its twenty-first season.
The Stone character originated on the short-lived Chicago PD spin-off Chicago Justice and is the son of the mothership Law & Order’s original lead prosecutor Ben Stone (Michael Moriarty), After Justice was cancelled, Winchester joined the cast of SVU in a recurring role for season 19, before becoming a regular in season 20.
Philip Winchester himself broke the news of his exit on Twitter. “I want to congratulate the cast and crew of @nbcsvu for making history today. Also to thank everyone for two great seasons. I have learned much and enjoyed being part of an elite unit. Here’s to you all and a historic run!”, he Tweeted. “Sadly for me, Peter stone and his “the facts don’t care about you’re feelings” attitude will not be returning. A huge tip of the hat to my amazing fans and not so big of fans. You ALL make me work harder. Thank you! See you on the next adventure.
