The fifth season of Vikings will premiere on History UK on Tuesday April 16th at 9pm, it has been announced.
Created by Michael Hirst, Vikings follows the adventures of Ragnar Lothbrok and his band of Viking brothers. The drama series is produced by Take 5 Productions, World 2000 & MGM Television and stars Gabriel Byrne, George Blagden, Travis Fimmel, Jessalyn Gilsig, Gustaf Skarsgard, Clive Standen and Katheryn Winnick. Michael Hirst, Morgan O’Sullivan, Sheila Hockin, John Weber, Sherry Marsh, Alan Gasmer and James Flynn executive produce.
Season five begins with Ivar the Boneless asserting his leadership over the Great Heathen Army, while Lagertha reigns as Queen of Kattegat. Ivar’s murder of his brother Sigurd sets the stage for vicious battles to come as Ragnar’s sons plot their next moves after avenging their father’s death. Bjorn follows his destiny into the Mediterranean Sea and Floki who is suffering from the loss of his wife Helga, takes to the seas submitting himself to the will of the Gods. This season is full of startling alliances and unbelievable betrayals as the Vikings fight to rule the world. The fifth season has previously been available to UK audiences via Amazon Prime Video UK. The debut on History UK marks the first linear TV broadcast.
