David James Elliott To Reprise ‘JAG’ Role On ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’

Harmon Rabb Jr is making a comeback. JAG star David James Elliott has signed on to reprise his role in a multi-episode arc on NCIS: Los Angeles. This marks the first time that Elliott has made an appearance on any of the NCIS spin-offs. His last appearance as Captain Harmon Rabb Jr was the series finale of JAG in 2005.

David James Elliott’s first appearance on NCIS: Los Angeles will be on the penultimate episode of the current (ninth) season, titled The Guardian, the NCIS team uncovers ISIS sympathizers who look to be planning an attack on US aircraft carriers. The terror threat will result in Callen (Chris O’Donnell) and Sam (LL COOL J) working directly with Rabb (Elliott), the XO Captain on the USS Intrepid.

Notably, David James Elliott becomes the second original JAG cast member to join NCIS: Los Angeles in a recurring role. John M. Jackson, who starred as Judge Advocate General and Rear Admiral A.J. Chegwidden on the first eight seasons of JAG, reprised the role in a handful of episodes during the eighth and ninth seasons of NCIS: Los Angeles. His arc saw him, now retired, recruited by former colleague Hetty Lange to assist in the mole hunt and he was later instrumental in helping rescue her from Vietnam

“I was really excited to get a chance to work with David again. I did the first 4 seasons of JAG with him so to be able to work together again in and of itself is great – but to do so with the same character on our show this many years later — that’s pretty damn amazing”, said NCIS: Los Angeles showrunner R. Scott Gemmill. “Bringing Harmon Rabb to work with NCIS: Los Angeles makes for a formidable coalition, and both entities are going to need all the help they can get when confronted with the greatest challenge of their careers.”
