Shortly after Werner Entertainment inked new deals with the core cast, ABC has renewed Roseanne spin-off The Conners for a second season. While there is no official word on the size of the order for season two, it is expected to be thirteen episodes.
The Conners picks up in the wake of the death of Roseanne and follows the Conner family as they grapple with parenthood, divorce, dating, aging and financial pressures in working-class America. Through it all – the fights, the coupon cutting, the hand-me-downs, the breakdowns – with love, humor and perseverance, the family prevails.
The comedy series is produced by Werner Entertainment and stars John Goodman as Dan Conner, Laurie Metcalf as Jackie Harris, Sara Gilbert as Darlene Conner, Lecy Goranson as Becky Conner-Healy and Ames McNamara as Mark Conner-Healy. Season one cast members Michael Fishman and Emma Kenney do not presently have deals in place for season two. The executive producers are Tom Werner, Sara Gilbert, Bruce Helford, Dave Caplan, Bruce Rasmussen and Tony Hernandez all serving as executive producers.
“We are proud to be continuing the story of the iconic Conners family,” said Karey Burke, President of ABC Entertainment. “This team is fearless in their willingness to tackle contemporary issues with humor and heart, and I have no doubt they will continue to outdo themselves.” There is presently no UK deal in place for The Conners, due largely to the unusual distribution arrangements for the show. Disney Media Distribution had a one year agreement to sell the show after which rights reverted back to Werner.
