E4 Drops TBS Comedy ‘Angie Tribeca’ After Two Seasons

EXCLUSIVE: Angie Tribeca has lost its UK broadcaster. Channel 4 has opted not to pick up any further seasons of the TBS comedy starring Rashida Jones from international distributor Turner International for their E4 channel. A representative for the channel confirmed they “don’t have any plans” to acquire future seasons.

Angie Tribeca follows a squad of committed LAPD detectives who investigate the most serious cases. At the center is Angie Tribeca, a lone-wolf detective, her partner, Jay Geils, and the squad’s apoplectic CO, Lieutenant Atkins. Helping solve each complex case are detective Danny Tanner; Dr. Monica Scholls, the brilliant, bespectacled medical examiner; and detective David Hoffman, Tanner’s K9 German Shepard partner.

The comedy series, which created by Steve and Nancy Carell, is produced by Carousel Television and stars Rashida Jones (Parks & Recreation), Hayes MacArthur (Go On), Jere Burns (Justified), Deon Cole (Black-ish) and Andree Vermeulen (Laid Off). Series creators Steve and Nancy Carell serve as executive producers alongside showrunner Ira Ungerleider. A ten episode fourth season recently aired on TBS.

E4 only picked up the first two season of Angie Tribeca, both of which aired back in 2016. Even with the decision not to renew their deal for the series, E4 will not be hurting for first run US comedies. The channel just acquired all three seasons of the ABC comedy Speechless and continues to hold rights to ABC’s Black-ish and The Goldbergs; CBS’ The Big Bang Theory, Happy Together, and Young Sheldon; and NBC’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
