Amazon Prime Video UK has altered their plans for New Amsterdam. When they acquired the Ryan Eggold fronted NBC medical drama, the streaming service announced that the first twelve episodes would be available from February 8th, with new episodes then following every Wednesday.
While the first twelve episodes did appear as expected on February 8th, there was no sign of episode thirteen on Prime on Wednesday February 13th. TVWise has reached out to representatives of Amazon Prime Video UK who have confirmed they will not be releasing episodes weekly as previously announced. The thirteenth episode is available to stream for UK Prime member as of today (Monday February 25th) and the rest of the season (episodes 14 – 22) will be available for streaming in May.
New Amsterdam follows Dr. Max Goodwin, Bellevue Hospital’s newest medical director who sets out to tear up the bureaucracy and provide exceptional care. Not taking “no” for an answer, Dr. Goodwin must disrupt the status quo and prove he will stop at nothing to breathe new life into this understaffed, underfunded and underappreciated hospital — the only one in the world capable of treating Ebola patients, prisoners from Rikers and the President of the United States under one roof — and return it to the glory that put it on the map.
The drama series, which is inspired by Dr. Eric Manheimer’s memoir “Twelve Patients: Life and Death at Bellevue Hospital” and his fifteen years as Medical Director at the hospital, is produced by Universal Television, Pico Creek Productions and Mount Moriah and stars Ryan Eggold, Freema Agyeman, Janet Montgomery, Jocko Sims, Anupam Kher and Tyler Labine. Series creator David Schulner serves as executive producer alongside Peter Horton. Kate Dennis directed and executive produced the pilot. NBC recently renewed the series for a second season.
