The third season of True Detective will receive its UK premiere on Sky Atlantic on Monday January 14th at 2am, simulcast with HBO’s east-coast feed. The season premiere will also be repeated later that same day in the show’s regular 9pm time-slot.

Created by Nic Pizzolatto, True Detective is an anthology series which revolves around one police investigation each season. Pizzolatto penned the new season alongside David Milch and Graham Gordy. The cast for the new season includes Mahershala Ali (Moonlight), Stephen Dorff (Somewhere) and Carmen Ejogo (Selma).

Season three picks up in 2015 with retired detective Wayne Hays, his memory failing, looking back at the disappearance of 12-year-old Will and ten-year-old Julie Purcell, recalling the days and weeks immediately following the 1980 crime, as well as developments in 1990, when he and his former partner, Roland West, were subpoenaed after a major break in the case.
