Channel 5 is expanding their commissioning team. The VIMN backed broadcaster has hired Dan Louw to serve as Commissioning Editor, and Kate Morey and Denise Seneviratne to serve as Commissioning Executives.
The trio will report directly to Channel 5’s Director of Programmes Ben Frow. The hires comes after Channel 5 appointed Sean Collins as Head of Scheduling and Sebastian Cardwell as Digital Channel Controller.
Dan Louw joins C5 from Vice Studios, where he most recently served as Head of Development and Executive Producer. Prior to that he served as Vice-President of Development for Viceland and Head of Development for BBC Documentaries
“For years Channel 5 has been the channel that best understands me both as a viewer and a producer”, he said. “At Vice Studios, Ben and the team allowed me to develop some of the most exciting projects of my career. To help others do the same is, at the risk of sounding clichéd, a dream.”
Kate Morey most recently served as executive producer at Lambent Production and Spun Gold, working on series for both ITV and Channel 5. She previously held roles at betty, Shine, LOVE and Talkback. “Channel 5 have had an incredible few years and the chance to join Ben and the team at such an exciting time is absolutely thrilling”, Morey commented.
Seneviratne has worked across a number of documentary, factual and factual entertainment programmes as an Executive Producer and Series Editor. She most recently Executive Produced Paul O’Grady’s Little Heroes for ITV, a BBC series Meet the humans with Michael Mosley and BBC’s popular Sun Sex and Suspicious Parents. “I feel really happy to be part of the team here – it feels like home”, she said.
