Netflix UK has announced that the fifth season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine will be available on the streaming service as of Friday March 8th.
Created by Dan Goor and Mike Schur, Brooklyn Nine-Nine follows Detective Jake Peralta, a talented, but carefree, detective and his case-cracking colleagues in the 99th precinct of the NYPD. The comedy series is produced by Universal Television and stars Andy Samberg, Andre Braugher, Melissa Fumero, Terry Crews, Stephanie Beatriz, Joe Lo Truglio, Chelsea Peretti, Joel McKinnon Miller and Dirk Blocker.
In the opening episode of the show’s fifth season, titled The Big House Part 1, Jake and Rosa assimilate to their new lives behind bars, but both are coping in very different ways. Jake bonds with his cellmate, Caleb (guest star Tim Meadows), and is forced to join a prison gang led by notorious inmate Romero (guest star Lou Diamond Phillips), in order to gain his protection. Meanwhile, in the women’s prison, Rosa puts Holt and Terry to the test by having them complete outrageous favors for her. Back in the precinct, Amy and Charles are doing all they can to exonerate their colleagues.
Season five previously aired in the UK on E4. The Channel 4 owned youth-skewing digi-net recently inked a new deal with NBCUniversal International Distribution to pick up the first window UK rights to the show’s eighteen episode sixth season. E4 has not yet set a firm premiere date for season six.
