5USA Sets UK Premiere Date For ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’ Season 17

The seventeenth season of Law & Order Special Victims Unit will premiere on 5USA on Tuesday January 8th at 9pm, it has been announced,

Created by Dick Wolf, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit revolves around the activities of the Manhattan Special Victims Unit of the NYPD, which investigates sexually based offences. The drama series is produced by Wolf Films in association with Universal Television and stars Mariska Hargitay, Ice T, Tamara Tunie, Kelli Giddish and Raul Esparza. The new season is set to pick up from the events of last season’s finale, which saw a wounded Nick Amaro (Danny Pino) leave the NYPD and head to California to join his family.

In the opening episode of the show’s seventeenth season, titled Devil’s Dissections, the SVU is called to a familiar crime scene – the beach where serial killer Gregory Yates (guest star Dallas Roberts) buried his many victims. When another body washes ashore, Detective Rollins (Kelli Giddish) tries to coax him into confessing, but the surprising information he provides sends shockwaves through the police department. Shorthanded and working overtime, Sergeant Benson (Mariska Hargitay) must decide if their source is worth pursuing, or if he’s manipulating the squad.
