BBC One Releases Trailer For ‘The Long Song’

BBC One has released the trailer for their three-part Andrea Levy adaptation The Long Song, which is set to premiere on Tuesday December 18th at 9pm.

The Long Song is set during the final days of slavery in 19th century Jamaica and tells the story of the strong-willed, young slave July on a plantation owned by her odious mistress Caroline Mortimer. When a charming new arrival to the island, Robert Goodwin, becomes the new overseer, July and Caroline are both intrigued by his seemingly revolutionary determination to improve the plantation for the slaves and mistress alike.

The three-parter, which was adapted by Sarah Williams, is being produced by Heyday Television and stars Tamara Lawrance, Hayley Atwell, Jack Lowden, Sir Lenny Henry, Doña Croll, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Ayesha Antoine, Arinzé Kene, Ansu Kabia, Jordan Bolger, Joy Richardson, Madeleine Mantock and Leo Bill. Mahalia Belo is the director, while Roopesh Parekh is the series producer. The executive producers are David Heyman and Rosie Alison for Heyday Television, and Ben Irving for BBC One, alongside Andrea Levy and Sarah Williams.
