UKTV's Dave Channel Orders Pizza Delivery Comedy 'Sliced' – TVWise

Dave is adding another scripted comedy to their slate. The UKTV owned and operated channel has handed out a three episode series order to Sliced, a comedy about two pizza delivery drivers in South London starring Samson Kayo (Timewasters) and Theo Barklem-Biggs (Kingsman: The Secret Service).
Sliced follows Joshua (Kayo) and Ricky (Barklem-Biggs), two mates who just want to make some money, move out of their family homes and meet some women – is that too much to ask for? If only all the ridiculous stuff that keeps happening to them would stop getting in the way. The series was co-created by Kayo and Phil Bowker and is being produced by Lovely Electricity. Al Campbell is attached to direct.
“Announcing a new scripted comedy series for Dave is always exciting and this is no exception”, said UKTV’s Head of Scripted Pete Thornton, who commissioned the series alongside UKTV’s Director of Commissioning Richard Watsham and UKTV’s Genre General Manager for Entertainment and Comedy Steve North.
“Samson Kayo is without doubt destined to be a huge star and Sliced is his passion project, so I’m absolutely delighted that he’s chosen to make it for UKTV – we look forward to welcoming him into the family along with his co-writer the legendary Phil Bowker. It’s a beautifully crafted, highly authentic and genuinely diverse project set in a blue-collar world that we can’t wait to introduce to our audiences.”
The three-episode comedy series model has been used at Dave effectively as a way of piloting new projects. It was used to launch such scripted comedies as Zapped and Porters, both of which were then expanded to full six episode runs in their second seasons. Sliced is expected to premiere on Dave in 2019.
“Samson is a rare talent and the fact that we’ve got the opportunity to work together with Dave to realise this series is not only brilliant but sends out a really strong message to the comedy world that UKTV is the place to be for the freshest, newest and finest comedy around”, added Lovely Electricity’s Phil Bowker.
