Netflix UK has released the trailer for the third season of The Last Kingdom, which is set to premiere on Monday November 19th.
The Last Kingdom is set in the ninth century when many of the separate kingdoms of England have fallen to the invading Vikings, with only the great kingdom of Wessex left standing and defiant under the command of King Alfred the Great. The drama series is produced by Carnival Films and stars Alexander Dreymon, David Dawson, Emily Cox, Ian Hart and Tobias Santelmann.
The series began its life on BBC Two, who originally commissioned it before Netflix boarded as the global broadcaster. When the BBC passed on a third season, the streaming giant stepped up to commission it. In season three, as Alfred’s health weakens — and with it his dream of a united England — Uhtred must take command and confront a new threat, Danish warlord Sigrid. Chrissy Skinns and Cait Collins are the series producers, while Stephen Butchard, Gareth Neame and Nigel Marchant executive produce. The Last Kingdom is based on the series of novels by Bernard Cornwell.
